Children and Drowning
Children drown in back yard pools as often as they do on boats, docks and beaches. It is often silent, takes as little as 5 minutes and usually occurs when an adult is nearby, in fact, the most recent drowning statistics show that 58% of drowning victims 5 years of age and younger were unsupervised at the time of the accident.
No one can watch a child every second which is why it is important for children to wear a PFD when they are close to any body of water.
