What parents need to look for in children's PFD's

Grab Strap
All children's products should have a grab strap at the back of the collar. This enables the child to be pulled out of the water should they fall in.

Crotch Strap
All children's products should have a crotch strap to ensure the product will not ride up in the water or fall off if they are picked up by the grab strap on the back of the collar.

Visibility
Although the colour regulations have opened up in Canada in the past 6 years, it remains wise to suit your children up in safety colours. This ensures higher in water visibility should an accident occur.

Collar
Because a child's head is the heaviest part of their body, all kids vests should have a collar for head support in the water. Also, as a side note, kids vests typically fit snugly around the neck in order to stabilize their head; this is not the result of poor design, but of better performance in the flotation device.
